Hi, it’s Sally Aikin. Dana and I have friends who live in Celebration, and we know how crucial mold inspection and testing are in this area.

This town has a unique climate and history that deserve a deep dive.

Why people worry about mold in Celebration

Heat and humidity promote the growth of mold.

Our climate is subtropical, characterized by hot and humid summers from May to October and mild winters.

Rainfall averages approximately 51″ per year, with most of it occurring during the summer.

In July, the high temperature is around 92°F.

Homeowners often call me because of musty smells or itchy eyes.

Here are the common reasons:

  • Moist air keeps spores active.

  • Heavy rain can cause roof and gutter leaks.

  • Stucco walls sometimes trap moisture.

  • Aging plumbing can leak behind walls.

  • Long-term ownership means that small problems can accumulate over time.

Regular mold inspection and mold testing protect your family.

How mold testing works

When you schedule an inspection with me, I follow a simple process.

First, I discuss any concerns with you and examine potential problem areas.

Next, I use moisture meters and infrared cameras to spot hidden leaks.

Then I collect air and surface samples using sterile equipment.

I send samples to an accredited lab for analysis.

Within a few days you receive a report explaining the results and recommending solutions.

If remediation is needed, we can refer you to trusted contractors.

After cleanup I offer post remediation testing to confirm your home is safe.

HHES Case Study: Our Mold Inspection Success in Celebration

home in west village celebration flWhen a friend’s neighbor, Sarah from Celebration’s West Village, contacted me, she was worried about a musty smell in her rented two‑story home. She had noticed damp spots on the ceiling after a heavy rainstorm. We scheduled a mold inspection right away.

On the day of the inspection, I arrived with moisture meters and infrared cameras. Sarah and I walked through her home together. I explained each step as I checked the attic, crawl spaces, and air vents.

We found elevated moisture levels near a skylight that had been leaking slowly. I collected air samples and surface swabs for lab testing.

The lab results showed high counts of mold spores in the second‑floor air sample. Sarah was worried, but I reassured her we had found the source.

She hired a licensed contractor to fix the leak and remove damaged drywall. After the repairs, I performed post remediation testing to confirm that mold spore levels were back to normal.

Sarah said she was amazed at how thorough the process was and how quickly she noticed fresher air in her home. She felt relieved knowing her family was breathing cleaner, healthier air again.

“I was nervous when I first smelled mold in my house, but HHES made the whole process easy. They explained every step and even found a small leak we didn’t know about. After the repairs and testing, I could breathe better and felt relieved. I’m so grateful for their honest help!”

Celebration has an interesting story. First of all, Celebration is a master-planned community (MPC) and census-designated place (CDP) in Osceola County, Florida, United States.

The Walt Disney Company formed the Celebration Company in the early 1990s to develop a master-planned community on 4,900 acres.

Famous architects Jacqueline Robertson and Robert A. M. Stern designed the town, and landscape firm EDAW planned the parks and trails. Construction started in 1994.

The first residential phase opened in summer 1996, featuring Celebration VillageWest Village, and Lake Evalyn.

After that, the company built North VillageSouth VillageEast Village, and Aquila Reserve.

Later, the Artisan Park neighborhood was added. Disney sold a significant portion of its stake but still owns the land.

Celebration became famous for its new urbanist design and old-fashioned charm.

Many families moved here because they liked the vision of walking streets, front porches, and community events.

Celebration is not an ordinary town.

It is a Community Development District (CDD), which is an independent local government created under Florida law.

The CDD plans, builds, operates, and maintains community-wide improvements and infrastructure.

A board of supervisors sets the budget with input from residents.

The CDD provides services like:

Homeowners contact the Celebration Residential Owners Association (CROA) for issues with homes, the Enterprise CDD for utilities, and Lexin Realty for downtown events.

Voting rights within the CDD are limited to landowners, and Disney-controlled entities remain the largest landowners.

Since we are not an incorporated city, the county sheriff provides law enforcement services.

The CDD organizes neighborhood watch programs and publishes meeting minutes.

Not all mold problems are the same.

And not all mold services fix the same issue.

Let’s break it down.

Mold inspection is the detective work.
We physically inspect your home or business, looking for signs of visible mold, moisture issues, and hidden leaks that fuel growth.
We find the source, not just the symptom.

Mold testing is the science.
We collect air or surface samples, send them to a certified lab, and get hard data on mold spore types and concentration levels.
This tells us what kind of mold you’re dealing with—and how serious it really is.

Why does it matter?

Because you can’t fix what you don’t understand.
Inspection finds the where.
Testing tells you the what.

If you’re in Celebration and suspect mold, you’ll likely need both.

But here’s the kicker—
Start with inspection.
Always.

Mold won’t knock.
It just shows up.

Sometimes it’s obvious.
At other times, it hides behind walls, under floors, or in your HVAC system—quietly damaging your home and health.

So, when should you pick up the phone?

If you notice any of this, don’t wait:

  • Musty odors that linger

  • Visible spots or discoloration on walls, ceilings, or vents

  • Chronic allergies, coughing, asthma flares, or unexplained fatigue

  • Recent leaks, floods, or water damage

  • Buying or selling a home (you’ll want proof it’s mold-free)

Here’s the truth:
Mold doesn’t get cheaper to fix.
It just gets worse.

Early detection = fewer repairs + better health.

And Healthy Home Environmental Services makes it easy.
